Good questions.
What is GRYDX, in one sentence?
A fog of war app for cycling: your map starts covered in fog, and every tile you ride through lights up live and stays yours forever, alone or with your crew.
Is there a fog of war app for cycling?
Yes, that is exactly what GRYDX is. Most fog of war apps are made for walking and travel. GRYDX is built for the bike: live reveals while you ride, a tile grid you can hunt, crews and seasons. How it works.
Is GRYDX a tile hunting app?
Yes. Like VeloViewer, Statshunters or Squadrats, GRYDX splits the map into tiles you collect by riding through them. The difference: tiles are revealed live during the ride, and there are crews, seasons, quests and loot on top. New to it? Read What is tile hunting?
Do I need Strava?
No. GRYDX records your rides itself, in the background. Old rides come in as GPX files.
What does it cost?
We'll announce pricing well before launch, and waitlist riders hear it first.
When does it launch, and on which phones?
GRYDX is coming to iOS and Android. We're opening Season 0 in waves, and riders on the waitlist get in first. You'll get exactly one email when your access is ready.
How is it different from Squadrats, Wandrer, VeloViewer or Statshunters?
Those are great tile and road trackers, mostly fed by your Strava rides. GRYDX is a game first: it records rides itself, reveals tiles live with a haptic tick, puts your crew on one shared map, and adds seasons, quests, XP and crates with bike parts. Full comparison.
Can I bring my old rides?
Yes. Import your GPX files and your ride history clears the fog on day one.
Do I have to keep the app open while riding?
No. Tap start, lock your phone and put it in your pocket. GRYDX records in the background and tiles keep revealing.
What are seasons?
Your all-time map never resets. On top of it runs a season map that starts fogged again each season, so everyone races on level ground. Season quests pay out coins.
What are crates and bike parts?
Crates turn up under newly revealed tiles, or you buy them with the coins you earn. Each holds one bike part: a frame, wheels, handlebars or a saddle. In the garage you build your bike from them.
Does it work where I live?
Yes, everywhere. The grid covers the whole planet, from your street to the other side of the world.
What happens to my location data?
Your rides are used to reveal your map, and that's it. GPS points stay on your phone; only the tiles you rode through reach our server. We don't sell data. Details in the app privacy policy (German).
The map is still fogged.
Be the first to ride into it.
